St. Peters Health Partners Medical Associates is seeking to recruit an experienced Cardiac Surgical Physician Assistant to join the Cardiac surgery program at Ellis Hospital located in Schenectady, NY. Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistants first assist and cover floor consults. This role is full-time with weeknight and weekend call rotation. The Wright Heart Center at Ellis Hospital is one of only three programs in the Capital Region authorized by the New York State Department of Health to perform cardiac surgery. Ellis Cardiothoracic Surgery is an Ellis Medical Group practice of experienced, board-certified cardiothoracic surgeons.
POSITION DETAILS:
First assist with all open-heart cases, no vascular, some thoracic, adult only.
Rotating shifts, 24/7 service coverage with night shifts and weekends.
Responsibilities include daily rounds with CTS Team, caring for post-operative patients in the ICU and on the floor, admitting transfers from outside facilities and the emergency department, and consultations.
Physician Assistant must be proficient in vein harvesting, chest tube placement, central line placement, and arterial line placement.
REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should have the following:
NYS licensure
DEA certification
ACLS/BLS
At least 1-3 years of Cardiac surgical first assisting experience
Graduation from an accredited PA program, Board Certification
