Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to offer an ACGME-accredited EMS Fellowship to provide physicians with experience and training in operations, research, education, and administration to contribute to EMS systems in a variety of settings.
The EMS fellowship is designed to immerse the fellow in all aspects related to ground and air EMS medicine. Hershey Medical Center Emergency Medicine has direct oversight over Life Lion Critical Care Transport, Life Lion EMS, and several other ground transport services. The unique geography of the region affords experience and training in both rural and urban settings. EMS boarded faculty are available to provide mentorship and experience in medical command, service oversight, field response, EMS research, and the many interactions which occur with the other 120 pre-hospital personnel dedicated to the provision of EMS care.
Fellows will gain clinical experience in various models of EMS services supplying pre-hospital care in the local region. These services include hospital-based, fire-based, volunteer, critical care ground and air transport, and blended career and volunteer services that are in urban, suburban, and rural areas of south central Pennsylvania. Program faculty provides medical direction to all of these service models. In addition fellows will be involved in education and administrative components of these services.
The Fellow will have a clinical faculty appointment through Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Emergency Medicine Department. Applicants must be graduates of an Accredited ACGME Residency Program in Emergency Medicine.
